Examinations

Our exams involve a combination of visual, radiographic (x-ray), and periodontal assessments to create a complete picture of your oral health.

Visual Examination:

Our dentist will carefully examine your teeth, gums, tongue, and other oral tissues, looking for signs of decay, gum disease, cracks, or other potential issues.

Radiographic Imaging:

X-rays provide a valuable window into what’s hidden beneath the surface. They allow us to detect cavities between teeth, assess bone health, and identify any other underlying concerns.

Periodontal Assessment:

Your gums are the foundation. We’ll measure gum pocket depths and check for signs of inflammation or bleeding, which can indicate gum disease.

Benefits of a Comprehensive Exam:

  • Early Detection: Early detection of dental problems allows for prompt intervention, often with simpler and less invasive treatments.
  • Personalized Care: Based on your exam results, we can create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.
  • Preventive Focus: Regular exams help prevent small issues from becoming major problems down the road.
  • Peace of Mind: Knowing the state of your oral health allows you to maintain a healthy smile with confidence.
Cleanings & Dental Hygiene

Simple Cleaning (Prophylaxis):

  • Ideal for: Patients with healthy gums or mild gingivitis (early gum inflammation).
  • The Process: This routine cleaning removes plaque and tartar buildup from the surface of your teeth and along the gumline. It typically involves scaling (scraping) and polishing to leave your teeth feeling smooth and fresh.
  • Benefits: Regular cleanings help prevent cavities, gum disease, and bad breath. They also allow your dentist to identify any potential problems early on.

Periodontal Therapy (Deep Cleaning):

  • Ideal for: Patients with moderate to advanced gum disease (periodontitis), characterized by inflamed and bleeding gums, and potential bone loss.
  • The Process: This more comprehensive cleaning goes beyond the surface, addressing deeper gum pockets where bacteria can accumulate. It may involve scaling and root planing, a procedure that removes tartar and smooths rough tooth surfaces to promote gum healing.
  • Benefits: Periodontal therapy helps control gum disease and prevent further damage to your gums and bone. It can also improve your overall health, as research suggests a link between gum disease and other health conditions.

How We Determine the Right Cleaning for You:

During your dental exam, we will assess your gums and teeth to determine the most appropriate cleaning for your situation. We will explain your options clearly and answer any questions you may have.

Restorations (Fillings), Crowns & Veneers

When dental problems do arise, we have the expertise and technology to address them effectively:

  • Composite Restorations: Durable tooth-colored fillings used to repair cavities and restore the natural look and function of your teeth.
  • Crowns: Custom-made caps that cover and protect damaged or weakened teeth, restoring strength, aesthetics, and functionality.
  • Veneers: Thin shells of porcelain or composite resin bonded to the front surface of teeth to improve their color, shape, size, or cover minor imperfections.
  • Dental Implants: Cutting-edge solutions for replacing missing teeth. Implants act as artificial roots and provide a foundation for crowns or bridges, restoring both chewing function and appearance.

Beyond Restoring Function: Restoring Confidence

Restorative dentistry goes beyond repairing teeth; it helps you regain your confidence and function. Whether you need a simple filling or a complete reahbilitation, we work closely with you to create a treatment plan that addresses your specific needs and goals.

Whitening

Addressing  Discoloration:

  • Take-Home Whitening: This option allows you to whiten your teeth at your convenience. We provide custom-made whitening trays and professional-grade whitening gel. Simply wear the trays filled with gel for a prescribed time each day to gradually achieve your desired level of whiteness.

Addressing Internal Discoloration (For Root Canal Treated Teeth):

Sometimes, a tooth can become discolored from the inside due to a root canal or trauma. For these cases, we offer internal bleaching:

  • Internal Bleaching (For Internal Discoloration): This specialized procedure targets discoloration within the tooth itself. A whitening agent is placed inside the tooth and left for a specific time to lighten the internal stain. This treatment is often very effective for root-canal treated teeth.

Benefits of Professional Whitening:

  • Safe and Effective: Our whitening treatments are safe and gentle on your teeth and gums. Supervised by a dental professional, these treatments are far more effective than over-the-counter whitening products.
  • Long-lasting Results: With proper care and maintenance, professional whitening results can last for years.
  • Confidence Boost: A brighter smile can significantly improve your self-esteem and confidence.
Root Canal Treatment

Toothaches can be a real pain, and sometimes the culprit is a deep infection in the tooth’s inner pulp. But losing the tooth isn’t your only option! Root canal treatment can be a lifesaver for your smile.

What is a Root Canal?

Imagine your tooth like a tiny house. The pulp, containing nerves and blood vessels, is like the inside living space. A root canal treatment focuses on this pulp. The dentist carefully removes the infected pulp, cleans and disinfects the canals (tiny passageways) within the root, and then seals everything up to prevent further infection.

Benefits of Root Canal Treatment:

  • Saves Your Natural Tooth: Natural teeth are essential for chewing, speaking, and facial structure. Root canals help you keep your natural tooth and avoid extractions.
  • Reduces Pain and Discomfort: Infected teeth can be very painful. Root canals remove the source of pain and restore comfort, allowing you to smile and eat pain-free.
  • Maintains Your Smile: Losing a tooth can affect the appearance of your smile. Root canals help you keep your smile complete and healthy.

Modern Root Canal Treatment:

Gone are the days of dreaded procedures. Modern root canal treatments are completed comfortably and use advanced techniques to minimize discomfort. Patients cane expect to experience no pain during the procedure.

Paediatric Dentistry

We understand that your child’s dental health is a top priority. We aim to create a positive and fun experience for kids, setting the stage for a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.

Here are some of the treatments we offer to keep your child’s teeth healthy:

  • Fissure Sealants: These thin, protective coatings are painted on the chewing surfaces of back teeth. They act like shields, preventing food and bacteria from getting trapped in the grooves, which can lead to cavities.

  • Fillings Without Anesthetic (When Possible): For small cavities, we use gentle techniques and numbing gels to make fillings comfortable for even the most apprehensive young patients.

  • Preventitive Resin Restorations: If decay is diagnosed early, it can be treated with a minimally invasive composite(white) filling.

Making Dentistry Fun and Rewarding:

Our experienced and friendly staff is dedicated to making your child’s dental visit enjoyable. We offer a comfortable environment, clear communication, and age-appropriate explanations to help ease any anxieties.

Building Strong Dental Habits Early On:

Early dental care is crucial for preventing future problems. We partner with parents to develop personalized oral hygiene routines and educate children about the importance of brushing and flossing.

Extractions

Sometimes, despite our best efforts, a tooth may become so damaged or infected that extraction is necessary. At Fairgreen Dental, we prioritize saving your natural teeth whenever possible. However, when extraction is the best course of action, we offer both simple and surgical extractions to ensure a safe and comfortable experience.

Simple Extractions:

  • Suitable for: Loose or easily accessible teeth, often performed for advanced gum disease or minimally complicated scenarios.
  • The Process: This routine procedure involves numbing the area around the tooth and gently removing it with specialized instruments.

Surgical Extractions:

  • Suitable for: Impacted teeth (wisdom teeth are a common example), deeply rooted teeth, or teeth surrounded by bone.
  • The Process: This more complex procedure may require making a small incision in the gum tissue and removing bone around the tooth before extraction. Stitches are often used to close the incision and promote healing.

Wisdom Teeth Removal Assessment:

Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, are the last teeth to erupt, and sometimes there’s simply not enough space for them in your jaw. This can lead to impaction, pain, and other dental complications.

During your dental exam, we will carefully assess your wisdom teeth and their position. If removal is necessary, we will discuss the options available, including simple or surgical extraction. In some complex cases, we may refer you to an oral surgeon for specialized wisdom teeth removal expertise.

Caring for Your Smile After Extraction:

Our team will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions to promote healing and minimize complications.
